Eat

It's a good idea for all of you to eat a snack or meal beforehand. Professional photos should be exciting and fun, and there's nothing quite as distracting or anxiety inducing as an empty stomach counting down the minutes to dinner time. Don't forget to feed yourself too! As parents, tending to your own needs can fall on the back burner, so make sure not to count yourself out for this. Try to arrive full and ready to relax and enjoy yourselves even if the last thing on your mind is snacking before the session!

This ties in well with eating beforehand. Hunger and exhaustion don't bode well for anyone, so rest up and bring your sunshine!

These sessions are about capturing you and the special interactions you share with your family, so relax and focus on them, we'll take care of the rest!

Be Timely

We always plan to arrive 25-30 minutes before a shoot. This allows us to get to the shooting location safely without the stress of forgetting a memory card or backup battery, or rushing in fear of keeping you waiting!

I like to recommend that you plan to arrive 10-25 minutes early as well so that you all have a chance to decompress when you arrive for your shoot if you've been scurrying around preparing yourself for it. (If we're coming to your home for an in-home session, this looks more like giving yourself a chance to rest on the couch before we arrive).

Being ready and arriving a little bit early will cut back on any extra stressors for everyone involved! Additionally, I often schedule my shoots to capture the gorgeous golden light of a sunrise or sunset, so being on time ensures we get the best of it without losing out!
